Signing your tenancy
When you have accepted your new home, you will need to do a sign up which can take about an hour and a half. Please ensure that you bring along:
For the tenant(s):
- Photo ID such as a valid passport or driving licence
- Current proof of address such as utility bill or bank statement or council tax bill (2 different items)
- Proof of income such as wage slips or benefit letter
- 2 passport sized pictures
Living in the property over the age of 18:
- Photo ID such as a valid passport or driving licence
Living in the property under the age of 18:
- Passport or birth certificate
Rent Payment
At the sign up, if you are claiming housing benefit to help with your rent you will be required to complete and submit a change of circumstance form before the keys are given to you.
If you are claiming universal credit, you will need to complete the application on the date your tenancy begins and make a payment of £10 when you sign your tenancy agreement.
If you pay your rent, you will need to bring a week’s rent to sign up so you can make a payment before the keys are handed over to you.
Our Properties
All of our homes come unfurnished and may be able to signpost you to agencies who can help you buy some items.
Utilities
You will need to organise your gas, electricity, water and council tax prior to your moving into your home. If you do not have a supplier we will not be able to commission your heating.
Content Insurance
We strongly advised to arrange contents insurance as Hackney Council and Clapton Park Management Organisation are not responsible for loss of, or damage to, your belongings, including that caused by other residents.
